Summer 2008

Well, Summer has arrived! Not too sure about that but we have had some fine days and have been harvesting strawberries in huge quantities. The gardens are starting to perk up although the temperatures have been cooler than the seasonal average so plants have not put on quite so much growth although at least it has meant the grass has needed less cutting. The borders have started taking on some colour as the altromerias and papavers have bloomed and now the bedding is giving some colour at the front of the borders.

The 3rd of July saw the long delayed opening of the final section of the Ceredigion Coastal Path from Cwmtydu to Llangranog. The coverage on BBC Wales showed some impressive footage of the new path being cut across the coast with some stunning scenery. We have yet to walk the route but no doubt when we do the dogs will enjoy it. It really is another asset for us here at Park Hall as the start is just a few minutes walk away an alternative to the walk to New Quay offering two good walks for those who enjoy a good two – three hour walk with pleasant destinations providing a range of eating and drinking, ready for the walk back or somewhere to wait for your transport!

As those who have been avid readers of the newsletter know we have been giving lengthy consideration to how we charge for energy. Well the decision has been taken and we are now adjusting our tariffs for all future bookings. We have reduced our proposed tariff for 2009 by rather more than the average spend on energy over the last four years according to the time of year and will be charging for oil and electricity according to usage during the stay at the rate prevailing at the time. We are sure our guests will understand the reasoning – who would like to predict oil prices in August 2009! It is also hoped that as an added benefit this change may encourage more careful consideration of energy used thus reducing the dreaded carbon footprint and save our guests money. As an example we have reduced the cost of a week’s stay in March 2009 from £1620 to £1490 with a short break (Fri –Mon or Mon- Fri) costing £995. The tariffs for the whole of 2009 can be found on our tariff page. We would still welcome guest’s views on this change

We are already receiving a number of bookings for 2009 so if you are thinking of coming to Park Hall do please get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment. We are offering a discount of 10% off our published tariff if you have stayed with us before on all bookings made before Christmas 2008.
