Thought of Wales

“Mid Wales has always been a destination for environmentally conscious visitors whether or not they realise it”

Simon Calder (Travel Editor The Independent)

We know we have been including the above quote on our Newsletter for some time but with Volcanic Ash and BA Strikes it seems more relevant than ever.

We have published our tariffs for 2011 and following the very successful response we had to changes we made last autumn / winter we have made few changes with just small increases to keep pace with our costs.

As a result of the changes we made last year our bookings in the first four months of 2010 were significantly above our pre credit crunch booking levels and almost double the average occupancy figures for Self Catering in Wales as a whole. In the period from the beginning of February to end of April we had only one free weekend and there is already a good level of interest for this autumn and the early part of 2011. So if you are thinking of making a booking do please get in touch sooner rather than later to avoid disappointment.

Our recent guests have been enjoying some good weather and we hope this a foretaste of a real summer for a change after the last two years. Already several have reported sightings of seals and dolphins.

The local area is festooned with flags and bunting to celebrate the Urdd Eistedfodd which was held at Llanerchaeron during half term week. This was the first of many local events including the Cardigan Bay Seafood Festival to be held in Aberaeron and the River and Food Festival which is held in Cardigan. Later in the year there is a Walking Week centred on Cardigan which offers the opportunity for guided walks. Later still the National trust property at Llanerchaeron will be holding an Apple Week with a range of different events as well as events leading up to Christmas.

After the long cold winter it is good to see all the new growth. Our wild primroses have been particularly long lasting and have been a wonderful sight along with an array of early purple orchids and swathes of bluebells.

The higher temperatures of the last few weeks have brought on our bedding plants and we are hopeful of colourful beds especially as we have two weddings taking place in June and July.

The new section of the Ceredigion Coastal Path which runs adjacent to our property is proving increasingly popular and receives very favourable comment from those using it.
