Newsletter

Spring 2008

Well at last the rain has come! Not often one says that but whilst the sun shines it keeps you busy and then a newsletter doesn’t appear.

Since our last newsletter we have completed the redecoration of another bedroom and the kitchen. Both are much improved the bedroom benefiting from a honey coloured theme which gives it a warm feel even though it is north facing. The kitchen has been retiled both floor and walls giving greater co-ordination than the previous mixture of tiling and we have taken the opportunity to raise the level of the splashbacks over the worksurfaces and to install two extra wall cupboards.

Our attention, since Easter, has turned to the exterior and following the purchase of a scaffolding tower have embarked on repainting the windows. Hence the preoccupation with the weather. The early results are rewarding with a marked improvement in appearance. New discoveries include quick drying putty enabling painting only 2 – 3 days after putty has been applied. This has enabled much faster progress.

The warm weather and several periods of overnight rain have given a surge to the growth of plants and grass. Our bedding for the borders is developing well in the greenhouse. We now have to hope for better weather conditions through the summer than last year so that we can offer our guests a really colourful and attractive garden.

Bookings have been good with the main summer weeks all being booked and a much higher level of bookings through the autumn than in 2007. Curiously June has not been as popular so if you are interested in an early break why not consider a short break or even a week in June. We are offering a reduction of 20% off our normal tariff making a week only £1750 and a short break £1225. For groups of 12 or less we are offering a further reduction of 5%.

Finally a quick indication of progress since we arrived at Park Hall 5 years ago. In 2003 we had two early purple orchid spikes – this year there are 30 plus!! They do have a fantastic colour. It might be better not to mention that heating oil was 18p per litre and is 55p today.
