Beaches ~ You will be spoilt for choice

Beaches and coast

As well as being on the Ceredigion Heritage Coastal Path, the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path and the Marine Heritage Coast of Cardigan Bay are within easy reach. The coastal waters are home to an abundance of marine wildlife including bottlenose dolphins, seals, porpoises and seabird colonies. You can walk to your heart's content in the nearby countryside and on the coastal paths, or just watch for the dolphins and seals.

You will be spoilt for choice for beaches and hidden coves in this area. Sandy beaches at Mwnt, Aberporth, Tresaith, Penbryn and Poppit are ideal for bathing or simply lazing. The local beaches are safe and clean and many have been awarded Blue flag status. They include Poppit Sands near Cardigan (quiet even on the busiest days); Mwnt and Penbryn (National Trust); Llangranog, New Quay and Tresaith. To the south, easily accessible along our quiet country roads, are the popular beaches of Pembrey (with its Country Park), Pendine (visit the Museum of Speed too) and Tenby as well as the Dylan Thomas house at Laugharne.

In 2006 the quality of many of the beaches in Ceredigion has been recognized with awards in three different categories including the coveted European Blue Flag.
